Louisa Leung has previously been a Senior Project Manager/Scrum Master with valuable experience from both technical and non-technical aspects of IT in a variety of private and public sector organisations. She has headed up PMOs and Consulting divisions and since re-locating to Perth WA she is also a trainer sharing her knowledge and experience whilst assisting organisations to find that balance between the theory (eg. Prince2, AgilePM, ITIL) and real world practices. Louisa has a strong focus on stakeholder relations, particularly stakeholder engagement, management and communication, risk and issue management, improved project governance, reporting, people and problem solving skills. She has the ability to manage projects with the following characteristics: 5+ disciplines/technologies; 10+ team members; 6+ months duration; over $1 million services revenue and multiple projects at a time.
Louisa’s focus has primarily been in IT Project Delivery ensuring the balance of people, cost, time. Louisa has experienced end-to-end project delivery from project start-up, planning and execution through to management, control and closure both in Waterfall and Agile frameworks and some of those in ITIL environments.
Louisa started her IT career over 10 years ago as a Service Desk Analyst at Unilever Australasia. Within 3 months the organisation saw her potential and promoted her to becoming both 2nd and 3rd level support. She was then selected to work on supporting and testing major upcoming projects (especially from an Operational Acceptance Testing perspective). Knowing that the support area was not the direction for Louisa she moved to a more technical role at Singtel Optus as a Unix Administrator. After being on the technical side of IT for a little while, Louisa was ready for a challenge and decided to move into the project delivery side of IT by joining Macquarie Bank as a Business Analyst. She was working on one of the biggest lending projects in the financial sector and that project also gave Louisa her initial exposure to the ‘Agile’ world. Hearing a need at Sydney Water for a Business Analyst with Agile background Louisa moved into a Business Analyst role there to find herself being one of the first pioneers of Scrum at Sydney Water. Louisa was one of the key players in piloting Scrum in the public sector and mentoring teams through the new process whilst creating all the required documentation. When Louisa could see that the teams were empowered to run Scrum smoothly she knew her work was done and was ready to move on.
With the ability to run projects both in Waterfall and Agile practices Louisa decided to move into the consulting space where she joined Jacobs Technology (who acquired Unique World) a Microsoft Partner to work with clients such as PwC and Telstra as a Project Manager/Scrum Master. Louisa ran many successful Microsoft Projects for clients aligning to the organisation’s internal processes whilst mentoring ‘good practices’. Again called upon for her expertise in running Agile frameworks in the public sector she joined NBNCo to deliver the ServicePortal using Scrum. The challenges faced at NBNCo was unlike the others as NBNCo was already using Scrum. The main part of her work here was to ensure the team kept re-aligning to the correct Scrum processes and staying away from being ‘Agile fatigue’. Louisa ran the Programme Management activities for quarterly roadmaps whilst running and managing each Project under the Program of Work. Louisa was soon head hunted to join Dimension Data R&D where they needed the implementation of a Project Management framework. Louisa coached and mentored massive change to the organisation with the implementation of the PMO (Project Management Office) – from the team structure down to the way they delivered projects on the ground. Louisa is currently the Head of Consulting for DDLS.

With real working experience and knowledge expertise Louisa can be a bridge between the theory and the real workplace practices. Louisa has worked her way both horizontally and vertically through numerous roles allowing her to connect the dots between all aspects of IT Project Delivery.
